About the FIFA World Cup 2026

The 2026 FIFA World Cup marks a historic milestone as the first tournament to feature 48 teams, expanding from the traditional 32-team format. Co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, this unprecedented event will showcase football across North America from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Matches will be played across 16 world-class stadiums, including iconic venues like MetLife Stadium (New Jersey), AT&T Stadium (Dallas), SoFi Stadium (Los Angeles), and Estadio Azteca (Mexico City). The tournament features 104 matches in total, with an expanded group stage followed by knockout rounds.

The new format introduces 12 groups of 4 teams, with the top two from each group and the 8 best third-placed teams advancing to an expanded 32-team knockout stage. This makes every group stage match critical and ensures more nations have a chance to reach the latter rounds of the competition.
